Good morning MLS Fantasy managers! This piece is currently being written on the beach in Aruba, so my apologies if this piece is a little lighter on analysis than usual!
That being said, here’s how we’re lined up for Round 7!
As you can see, we are very NYCFC-heavy this round: we went with two defensive players in Sean Johnson and Maxime Chanot and two attacking players in Maxi Moralez and Jesus Medina. We went with the high-upside pick in Medina instead of the high-upside pick of Yangel Herrera; however we gave the armband to Moralez as an indirect hedge since we believe he will play in both matches and as such should have a high floor in Round 7. Needless to say, all of our NYCFC picks appear to have paid off quite handsomely so far this round: as of this writing, we are the 18th-highest scoring team in Round 7!
We've also made a couple of "active management" picks in our lineup this weekend. Kei Kamara and Keegan Rosenberry both play on Friday night, and as such have been placed on our bench. If Rosenberry has a strong outing, we could potentially drop either Claude Dielna or Ike Opara from our starting lineup on Saturday morning to ensure we have 2-of-3 defenders earning strong returns. Alternatively, we may wait to see how Bradley Wright-Phillips does on Saturday afternoon during the 1pm matches before making any defensive changes if Rosenberry puts up double digits on Friday night.
If both Kamara and Wright-Phillips have strong outings, we could even drop Josef Martinez from our XI and lock in those gains. I will admit that it is quite a bit of tinkering to do while on vacation, but the good news is that we've done a good job separating our lineup-switching picks across all three matchdays for the weekend.
Our only other question mark is Sean Davis - he played a hard 90 minutes during the CCL match on Tuesday, so we wouldn't be surprised if he gets a break during the weekend. If he does, we will likely swap him out for another RBNY midfielder and potentially move him to the bench to bring in Wright-Phillips to the XI.
